The roof, the roof, the roof is on...

When we pulled up to the house this time I had to do a double take - "Wait, is that ours!?". It feels like I blinked and the framing process was over - I wasn't expecting to see an actual house already!

The shingles up on our roof are done, exterior doors have been set, windows are in, and the 'house wrap' is complete.

The brick will start coming in on Monday and should go on by Tuesday - which means when we go to look next week the exterior will probably be close to complete!

The HVAC technicians completed the duct work earlier this week, and the plumber completed all of his installations.  The electricians started wiring on Wednesday and the sprinkler contractor and guardian are to follow directly after the electricians are done.

After all this we will start the first of several inspections to make sure we are abiding by any water, gas, and general county codes.

Also, our pre-drywall meeting is set for next week! I can't make it due to work, but Arthur will get the chance to walk around the house with our PM. He is bringing along an independent inspector just so we have another, more knowledgable pair of eyes on everything. The inspector we are bringing was recommended by others in our neighborhood and they have all had positive experiences with him, so we trust he is well worth the money.

We can't wait to see the inside! Pictures will be posted after Arthur does his walk-through. Happy Saturday, everyone!

  1. Your house is coming along great! Good idea to bring the inspector to predrywall. Our inspector found a few things but overall said Ryan Homes did a really great job. At this point you should be able to safely walk through your house when you go for your visits. You'll really do a double take the first time you walk in your house :)

Also, in case your SR or PM didn't give you a heads up (ours didn't when we were building), Saturday is a regular workday for construction, so if you want to see the most progress on the weekends it's easier to go on Sunday.

  2. No way that is so helpful! Do you typically have to ask/schedule to walk through on Sundays or did you typically just walk through on your own? I can't wait to go in now!

  3. We reached out to our SR to schedule around the middle of the week to schedule for a Sunday visit. Most of the times she would have us stop by before the office opened, but sometimes we would be scheduled at the end of the day. We never went by ourselves since our PM wanted us to be escorted for liability reasons, but a lot of people go by themselves without an issue.
